THANKS TO THE ROTHSPORT RACING TEAM

Last year I was given the opportunity to photograph and write a feature article and short film on the two Rothsport Racing Porsche 911s, both of which finished the 2017 NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road race. More

CAMERON AND ERIC HEALY WIN AT THE MEXICAN 1000

A production-based Porsche 911 has never won its class at a Baja 1000 off-road race. Until now.

Cameron Healy (driver) and Eric Healy (navigator) took the win in the 2018 NORRA Mexican 1000 Vintage Stock Production Cars class piloting a Rothsport Racing Porsche Safari 964. Teammates Jeff Gamroth and Tim Ralston of Rothsport Racing finished second. Congrats to all!

IT DOESN’T MATTER

Stephen Stills and Manassas were a short-lived super group in the early 1970s. They made some great music together. Here’s proof.

Big Gretsch guitars, big hair, big mutton chops… all live, no overdubs, no lip-synching. Soulful.

“Moment by moment. One day at a time. It doesn’t matter. It’s nothing but dreaming anyhow.” More

DEBRIS

One of my favorite songs. And my favorite Ron Wood riff on any album. Here’s a Ronnie Lane tune from 1971 with Rod Stewart, and the rest of Faces, with producer Glyn Johns on board. It just gets better with age.

“I’ve been there and back, just to see how far it was…”

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Here’s a Celtic harvest delight – a Gulf Orange 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4 that magically turns from a pumpkin into a carriage of immense delight.

I shot this one at sunrise among the wheat fields of the Palouse. Trick-or-treat? You decide. More

MEXICAN 1000 FILM AND ARTICLE PREMIERE

The Porsche Club of America just launched my six-minute video about a pair of Rothsport Porsche 964s racing in the 2017 Baja Mexican 1000 Rally.

After five days of blasting over 1,000 miles of rough terrain, the team beat all the odds by not only finishing but winning a trophy, a feat no Porsche has ever accomplished in Mexico. Until now. More

DISNEY GIRL

Walt Disney, America’s animated film producer, inventor of Tinkerbell, and founder of Disneyland, lived and died this week, 115 and 50 years ago respectively. It’s remarkable how his legacy has only continued to grow in stature.

Happy birthday, honey.

THE DOORS FIRST ALBUM

On this day 50 years ago, and for the next eight days after that, The Doors recorded their first album at Sunset Sound in Hollywood. That’s where the rock group laid down their distinctive sound on 4-track tape with producer Paul Rothchild and engineer Bruce Botnick. Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger, John Densmore, and Larry Knechtel all played on the record. Jim Morrison had is own track. More

IMPOSSIBLE GERMANY, UNLIKELY JAPAN

“Where ever you go, wherever you land.”
“This was still new to me. I wouldn’t understand.”

There are great Wilco songs, and then there is “Impossible Germany”, arguably one of the best from anyone over the past ten years. The album it appears on, Sky Blue Sky, was released in May 2007 and cut to vinyl by Robert Ludwig. It sounds fantastic. More

AN UNLIKELY VALENTINE

Magnus means “great” in Latin. Like him or not, it’s been hard to ignore Magnus Walker, whose media attention has shone a light on air-cooled Porsches. And that’s contributed to their rise in value over the past five years – for good or for bad. More
