RAIN AT LAST

Seattle has finally received some rain today. More is forecast for tomorrow. I’m hoping all my friends in California and Oregon are receiving some relief as well. Please support Harvey Weidman and his family in Oroville CA, who have been severely affected by the west coast fires.

CANDYCE’S 911S

A big thank you to everyone at PCA’s Panorama Magazine for publishing this story about a woman who carried on her husband’s legacy.

This month’s issue features my images and words about a 1973 911S in Sepia Brown that has won countless concours since Candyce Jones inherited it from her late husband. The image above was photographed with Candyce at the wheel while attending PCA Parade in Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. This is a great story for many reasons.

PORSCHE WINS CLASS – JUST MISSES OVERALL VICTORY AT PIKES PEAK

David Donner in his 000 Magazine sponsored Porsche GT2 RS Clubsport took the Time Attack 1 class victory at Pikes Peak this weekend. His overall time of 9:36.559 was just 1.1 seconds away from the overall win.

Other notable Porsches among the thirteen entered included David Donohue in another GT2 RS (who was leading but got a flat halfway through his run) and RS Magazine sponsored Jeff Zwart in a new 935 (who has won his class at Pikes Peak several times before). Zwart followed to earn 2nd in class this year for a Porsche 1-2 finish.

Congrats to all!

LOST IN TRANSLATION

“Lost in Translation is a 2003 American romantic comedy-drama film (that won an Oscar) written and directed by Sofia Coppola. Bill Murray stars as Bob Harris, a fading American movie star who is having a midlife crisis when he travels to Tokyo to promote Suntory whisky. There, he befriends another estranged American named Charlotte, a young woman and recent college graduate played by Scarlett Johansson.” -Wiki

SO, WHAT’S A BARE BONES AUTOMOTIVE VIDEO RIG?

A simple car shoot video rig is ideally compact, lightweight, and easy to use. It’s also hopefully not too expensive. After all, it’s your vision and message that will determine the success of any film more than anything else.

Whatever rig you choose, you don’t really want to compromise much on quality – for the camera, the lens, monitor or the audio mic. Continue reading “”

HEMINGWAY BOOK COVER

It’s always nice when your photograph is chosen for a book or album cover. Here’s one with impalas in motion that I photographed in Kenya. It’s being used on a French edition of Hemingway’s Green Hills of Africa.

BACK IN THE PALOUSE

If you really want a change of experience, and you live near Seattle, one option is to take a 4-hour trip east to the wheat fields of the Palouse – but don’t delay. This year’s crop will be cut in a couple of weeks.

We just returned from an overnight trip there, and it was a magnificent visual treat. The image above was shot with a Leica Q camera.

P.S. I’ve updated my DJI Mavic 2 Pro drone with the latest firmware, and it’s working great!
