NO ALTERNATIVE FACTS HERE

As a photojournalist, I have to get the facts right. When, for whatever reason, I cannot, then the piece I may have already spent a week on remains unpublished. That’s just the way it is. There is no alternative reality allowable in my profession. Not if one wants to keep their integrity intact.

“Fact is a piece of information presented as having objective reality.” – Merriam-Webster Dictionary

The same should hold true for my editorial photographs. Although the use of Photoshop is now rampant in magazine feature photography, I will continue to resist altering reality to where the image becomes another one entirely. No “fake news” or “alternative facts” for me.

For commercial work, all bets are off. It’s advertising.
