For me, jazz pianist Bill Evans is the coolest.

Released a little over 60 years ago, the tune “Peace Piece” on his album Everybody Digs Bill Evans has everything: it’s romantic, transcendental and groundbreaking.

The pastoral piano improvisation foreshadows “Flamenco Sketches” and “Blues in Green” on Miles Davis’ seminal modal jazz masterpiece Kind of Blue.

In a word… COOL.
