BACK FROM CALIFORNIA:
RENNSPORT REUNION & CS&N REMASTERING

Wow, what a week..

This past week held some of the high points of my life. There were a couple of low points to be sure, but I can’t begin to tell you about it all (because I really can’t tell you..).

It started with Porsche’s Rennsport Reunion IV at Laguna Seca. I had a photography booth in the vendor area that I shared with early 911 parts guru Eric Linden. Thanks, Eric, for being so accommodating while I ran around taking photos like a crazy man. I shot a very cool cover story for Excellence magazine on Saturday morning that I will tell you about later.

I also covered four other cars, in addition to being a media photographer covering the races Saturday and Sunday. One of the cars is a perfect genuine right-hand 1973 Porsche Carrera RS in black/red currently for sale by Dave Buhain of MS Road & Race (see photo above).

See this article for more on this special Carrera RS: Classic Driver Magazine

On Sunday my editor, Pete Stout, was very generous in giving me his ticket to the “Porsche Race Car Classic” at nearby Quail Lodge. I showed up that afternoon and was blown away by the quality of these very rare cars.

On Tuesday I was invited by Steve Hoffman to cover the audiophile re-mastering of the 1969 Crosby, Stills and Nash debut album for gold CD (due out December 13th from Audio Fidelity). What an honor it was to witness this event using the original analogue master tapes on a killer sound system at Marsh Mastering in LA. I will be writing a music/sound review about this experience and the resulting CD for Michael Fremer’s MusicAngle.com.

All I can say is I’m totally exhausted, emotionally spent and ready for my own bed right now. You will excuse me if I don’t post for a few days..
