I just finished hanging a 13 print exhibit at Glazer’s Camera Rental Studio in Seattle. On view are images from my book project, Steinbeck’s America: In Search of Travels with Charley Fifty Years Later.
Accompanying the color photographs are quotes by John Steinbeck from his book, Travels with Charley. My short film on the project and an e-book sample will be on view at a closing reception:

50 Years After Travels with Charley
John Steinbeck’s 1962 travelogue, Travels with Charley in Search of America, will celebrate its 50th anniversary this year. This first-person narrative describes an eleven-week counterclockwise U.S. road trip Steinbeck made with his French poodle Charley in the fall of 1960. He left his Long Island, New York home in late September and returned in early December, rediscovering his native land along the way.
To honor this publication, I have produced a book that combines quotes from Steinbeck’s best-selling story with notes and photographs from my own cross country expedition that followed the Nobel prize-winning author’s route. My goal is to stimulate the reader’s imagination to go on their own personal voyage to rediscover America and Steinbeck’s prophetic words.
