TARGA CALIFORNIA

The 2nd Annual Targa California Rally took place this past week south of Monterey. Over fifty pre-1975 cars (twenty of which were Porsches) drove 1,000 miles over varied terrain during the peak of this spring’s wildflower season. The participants experienced a unique blend of long country roads, sports car museums and automotive companionship over three days traveling at their own pace.

Dave Bouzaglou of TRE Motorsports organized the informal rally to provide a venue where pure driving could be experienced amid beautiful scenery. Responsible touring was stressed and route maps were provided with lunch stops and way markers indicated along the way. On assignment for Excellence, I was a passenger in half a dozen cars while photographing this exciting event under perfect weather. Thanks to Dave, Jim, Scott Stamper, Chuck Miller, Chris Tallon, Ian Smith, Chris Messano, Mike Gagen and everyone else for a wonderful time.

My Excellence magazine article on this Rally will be due out soon!
