SLOT CAR RACING AGAIN

As a kid, I raced slot cars at commercial hobby tracks pretending to be the famous British driver, Sterling Moss. I still have my box of cars and controller. Twenty years ago, I started collecting the 1/32nd scale slot cars that were being produced at the time.

Since Porsche, “LeMans”, and McQueen are close to my heart, I purchased every Fly and Scalextric slot car represented in the 1970 film/race, including the Ferraris. I also found an original race program. I then expanded from there to include earlier and later Porsche scale model race caras.

To make it all make sense (yeah, right), in 2000 I built a 40 foot 1:32 Scalextric track of Spa in my basement crawl space. I just got my slot car track back up and running again to fill my off hours during the Covid 19 lock down. That’s one way to have fun safely!
