HENRI CARTIER-BRESSON BY JANE BROWN

From her first portrait in the U.K. Observer 60 years ago, Jane Brown has photographed some of the world’s most famous faces. She’s known to show up for a photo session with one camera, one lens, and a Anglepoise lamp. Here’s her image of HCB with a 1954 Leica M3 and 50 1.5 Summarit.

P.S. The Leica M3 was symbolized by the fact that it had three focal length frames in the viewfinder. These were 50mm, 90 & 135mm. The world was less crowded then, so 35mm was less important.
