MARDI GRAS IN NEW ORLEANS

February 16th is the date for Mardi Gras this year, and New Orleans is one of the best places in the US for celebrating Fat Tuesday (the French translation for this carnival). If you didn’t get enough of rich foods and libations this past holiday season, here’s one last chance for hedonism before confessing your sins and going on a diet.

NOLA is still recovering from hurricane Katrina and the worst civil engineering disaster in US history, but it remains one of the most unique cities in America and deserves a visit if you have never been. The Mississippi riverboats, a world class aquarium, the French Quarter, St. Charles Avenue, Creole and French cusine, the birthplace of jazz – New Orleans has lots to offer. So if you want an escape from the ordinary, consider a trip to “the Big Easy” this month – the weather’s fine.
