He was a founding member of the Allman Brothers Band with brother and maestro guitarist Duane Allman. <\/p>\n<p>Duane and bassist Berry Oakley died in in 1971 and 1972 in similar motorcycle accidents, after the release of the groundbreaking <a href=\"https:\/\/randywells.com\/blog\/?p=6749\"><em>Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs<\/em><\/a> and <em>At the Fillmore East<\/em>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Gregg&#8217;s first solo album of 1972, <em>Laid Back<\/em>, dealt with the loss of his closest friends &#8211; and his demons. That album was recently released on 200 gram audiophile vinyl by <a href=\"http:\/\/store.acousticsounds.com\/d\/108972\/Gregg_Allman-Laid_Back-200_Gram_Vinyl_Record\">Acoustic Sounds<\/a>. and includes such songs as &#8220;Midnight Rider&#8221;, &#8220;Queen of Hearts&#8221;, &#8220;These Days&#8221;, &#8220;Multi-Colored Lady&#8221;, &#8220;All My Friends&#8221;, and &#8220;Will the Circle Be Unbroken&#8221;.    <\/p>\n<p>(Cover Painting: Abdul Mati Klarwein) <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GREGG ALLMAN &#8211; LAID BACK Gregg Allman passed away today.
