Will this replace my sharp but distortion prone 24-105 f4 EF-L IS lens? I&#8217;m not a big fan of the 24-70 f2.8 L lens, even in its improved version II,  because of its larger overall size, larger filter size, and lack of image stabilization. <!--more-->  <\/p>\n<p>This new lens features Canon&#8217;s unique hybrid stabilization and has switched on macro capability at 70mm (7.9-inch minimum focusing distance). It&#8217;s likely to be optically superior to my current everyday zoom, and I already know it&#8217;s a bit lighter and more compact, although also more expensive.
