BACK FROM PORSCHE PARADE
Once again, the Porsche Club of America sent me to cover their annual Parade. This year the big event was held in the Poconos of Pennsylvania. Over 1000 Porsches attended, among them this rare 1992 Euro Carrera 911 RS in Raspberry.
Thanks to the whole Panorama Magazine team for all the good times and photo ops. Look for my features to be published in the coming months.
TOP GUN MAVERICK
Many of us have seen this new film, and any of us who are Porsche fans, love the ending.
It features a shot of Jennifer Connelly next to a silver 1973 911S. A sunroof coupe no less. Gotta love it.

INSTA REPEAT
Here’s an image I made in the late ’80s. It was extensively published in print and has been copied since by other photographers many times. With the advent of social media, this phenomenon is in hyperdrive. Shooting for the approval of others (i.e. chasing likes or followers) is just plain dumb. It’s almost as bad as photographing for unsustainably low pay. How bad are things? Just check this out:
JUST BACK FROM A LONG ROAD TRIP
It’s good to be back home, but it’s also exciting to have had such a productive journey last month. I photographed 15 cars, 11 of them in 4 days, and made some new friends in the Porsche 356 and 911 communities along the way. Here’s a photo I made with my Leica Q on a windy day along Rte 66, one of my favorite roads.
IT’S A GREAT TIME TO BE A B.S. ARTIST
Today, everyone seems to be looking for an easy answer. Nobody wants to do the work. So they rely on the loudest person in the room. Problem is, that person is usually so self absorbed that they no longer know when they are lying. What they do know is that it’s easier to plead ignorance or ask for forgiveness when found out.
Back in 1989, there were a trio of women who realized what was what, and they were very talented.
The Roches are three sisters whose voices blend together amazingly well. They are Maggie (baritone), Terre (soprano), and Suzzy Roche (alto). Their albums are full of sly tunes and received some airplay in the ’80s. Here’s a song of theirs I’ve always liked.

MEGAPHONICS 2022
If you are in England, be sure and check out Megaphonics 22 on Sunday, 29 May, when Boxengasse’s annual air-cooled Porsche event returns for it’s 4th installment.
Here are some quotes from its founder, Frank Cassidy, a man after my own heart – Classic Porsche, Leica and 60’s music. Continue reading “”

R GRUPPE TREFFEN
St. George, Utah near Zion National Park was the location of last weekend’s 21st R Gruppe Treffen. About 50 early Porsche 911s made the trek from parts across the USA. Here’s a shot above of a Silver ’72 made from a ’70 coupe all the way from Seattle. A majestic setting and a great group of people.
10CC : FEEL THE BENEFIT
Great band. Great album, Great song. From 1977, this still works.
Happy Mother’s Day!
BRING A TRAILER
I’ve been working with clients directly to photograph and film their car for sale on BAT. The results have been remarkably well received by everyone, and it’s provided me with another outlet for short videos that provide engaging content and another way to tell a story. Look for my most recent work on this blog journal soon!
A LEGENDARY SEATTLE PHOTOGRAPHER HAS PASSED AWAY
Bob Peterson was well-known in Seattle for his amazing photography. His pioneering work was featured in magazines, ads and brochures for such clients as LIFE, AAA, Nike, the Seattle Super Sonics, and many more. He was also an iconic photographer for annual reports in the area, just like Harald Sund and the late John Terence Turner. These guys did this stuff on demand with one chance only – on film. We will all miss his approachable nature and wry sense of humor. Continue reading “”
WE SKIPPED THE LIGHT FANDANGO
Probably my favorite single ever, released in 1967 and made arguably even better by Annie Lennox on a wonderful sounding LP in ’95. The original recording was used in many films, including the 1989 New York Stories with Nick Nolte. Amazing that it was written 55 years ago by Procol Harum. Sadly, Gary Brooker, who led the band throughout their history, and who co-wrote and sang this classic, passed away on February 19, 2022. He was 76.

THANKS PANO!
Porsche Club of America has been very good to me over the years. This month, their national magazine, Panorama, has honored me with a short bio and multi-page essay featuring my photographs made at the 2021 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. There, I photographed a very rare gathering of Porsche 917 race cars, partnering with writer Jay Gillotti, who did a great job telling the story of these magnificent icons. Thanks again for their support at the Pano editorial staff – Vu Nguyen, Rob Sass, Amy Skogstrom, Emma Smith, Doug Lloyd, Allen Lane and Richard Baron!
STAYING HUMBLE
At some stage in your career, hopefully early on, you decide it’s important to stay humble, no matter what level of success you achieve.
The passion you feel along the way can have a way of making everything you experience a bit larger than life, obscuring the overall relevant importance of what you are doing.
Sure, some ego is important for the artist to survive, as is drive, tenacity and grit, which are all necessary to succeed, but those won’t determine what you leave behind that actually matters. Continue reading “”
PORSCHE BACK IN FORMULA 1?
Word is Porsche and Audi are planning to join Formula 1 in 2026. Working in F1 as powertrain suppliers, Porsche is considering working in conjunction with Red Bull Racing, and Audi could be supplying McLaren. It’s all dependent on how parent company Volkswagen decides to allocate development costs across its racing teams. The last time Porsche was in F1 was with the MP4/2C TAG engine in a McLaren during the ’80s.
