PLAYTIME AT THE EMORY’S
Here’s my latest feature in Road Scholars Magazine. It’s an insight into Rod and Zayne Emory’s toy car collection. Lots of great stories are told against a backdrop of miniature models in their new Emory Motorsports shop in North Hollywood. Continue reading “”
THANKS TO THE ROTHSPORT RACING TEAM
Last year I was given the opportunity to photograph and write a feature article and short film on the two Rothsport Racing Porsche 911s, both of which finished the 2017 NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road race. Continue reading “”
CAMERON AND ERIC HEALY WIN AT THE MEXICAN 1000
A production-based Porsche 911 has never won its class at a Baja 1000 off-road race. Until now. Continue reading “”

THE ULTIMATE 928 DIY RESTORATION
“Minerva’s Journey” is a behind the scenes look at what it takes to rebuild a 166,000-mile Porsche from the tub up to “as new” stock condition nearly 40 years after it left the factory.
William Anast and Rob Edwards deserve big kudos for this month’s publication of their 1978 928 refurbishment in PCA’s Panorama Magazine. This was an epic journey in more ways than one. No traffic on the Balboa Island ferry… Continue reading “”
WHO CAN SEE IT
If you’re interested in travel photography as a full-time profession, here are some reflections from a 23 year-old giving it all he’s got. Unfortunately, as hard as he tries, his plan is likely to fail over the long term. Continue reading “”
THE GOLD 911R AND KEVIN JEANNETTE
Here’s a pic of Bruce Jennings and Kevin Jeannette from the late 1960s with Porsche 911R #15. What a wonderful moment. Look for a future article on this car. Continue reading “”
IT DOESN’T MATTER
Stephen Stills and Manassas were a short-lived super group in the early 1970s. They made some great music together. Here’s proof.
Big Gretsch guitars, big hair, big mutton chops…
“Moment by moment. One day at a time. It doesn’t matter. It’s nothing but dreaming anyhow.” Continue reading “”
THE 28MM FOCAL LENGTH
Here’s why I think the 28mm is the best storytelling lens. It’s wide. But, if you have previously mastered the 17 or 21mm focal length, it’s perfect. Plus the 28mm is extremely cinematic. It’s the same effective focal length as a smartphone. Except, depending on your camera body, it is even smarter. It has multiple more megapixels to record all that information. Continue reading “”
HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY
For all of you with a wee bit of Irish in your heritage, here’s a photo of a Conda Green Kremer-Porsche 911 ST I’d like to be wearing today. Continue reading “”
THE PORSCHE EFFECT
Thanks to everyone at Road Scholars Magazine and the Petersen Automotive Museum for the opportunity to cover opening night of “The Porsche Effect” exhibit in LA. Shot entirely with a Leica Q and 28mm lens. Read all about it here: Continue reading “”
DEBRIS
One of my favorite songs. And my favorite Ron Wood riff on any album. Here’s a Ronnie Lane tune from 1971 with Rod Stewart, and the rest of Faces, with producer Glyn Johns on board. It just gets better with age. A Nod is as Good As a Wink, indeed. Continue reading “”
MONORAUL REMINISCING
The Beatles in mono are still a great listen, and one of their songs on the recently reissued 1967 Sgt. Pepper LP I’m playing today. It was the B-side to “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”. McCartney wrote it when he was 16. Continue reading “”
PERFECTIONISM
Mr. Nelson, my 5th grade teacher at Mt. Eccles Elementary School in Cordova, Alaska, was the first person to tell me that I was a perfectionist. He advised me that while it’s certainly an admirable trait, it could hamper me if taken too far. I’ve never forgotten that, and I remind myself to keep it fun every day. Continue reading “”
BACK TO BACK
These two Porsches owned by Ryan Snodgrass are the inspiration for his amazing books: a 1976 Carrera 2.7 MFI 911 and a 1977 Turbo 3.0 930.
See the latest issue of Panorama Magazine for my feature comparing them back to back on the streets of Seattle. It’s a fun ride. Continue reading “”
