R.I.P DAN GURNEY
Porsche’s first (and only) F1 victory was with Dan Gurney on July 8, 1962 in a 804 at the French Grand Prix. He went on to build the American Eagle race car and racing team. His accomplishments in the field are legendary. For example, he was the first racer to use a full face helmet. One of the good guys. Continue reading “”
MPG AWARD FINALIST… AGAIN
Well, I suppose I can toot my horn a bit, although the Motor Press Guild winners won’t be announced until next month. I was very fortunate to have a great project fall in my lap last year. Jeff Gamroth called and asked if I would like to document his Rothsport Racing Team effort at the 2017 Baja Mexican 1000 Rally. I said yes of course. Continue reading “”
HAPPY HOLIDAYS
This 1952 Porsche America Roadster, as featured in the current issue of the Porsche magazine Panorama, waves goodbye to 2017. Here’s to a happy holiday and an even better 2018!

THE STORY BEHIND THE SHOT
This month’s photo was created while assigned to a studio shoot of a Porsche Speedster.
Walking around the car, I noticed these framed mirrors reflecting certain sections of the Porsche. By using a tripod and careful framing, I was able to create the lead to a story I knew would be titled “Fill in the Blanks”. Continue reading “”
EXCELLENCE 911 T/ST ARTICLE
Congrats to Nick Psyllos and his 1972 Tangerine 911 T/ST for being featured in the current issue of Excellence Magazine. Photographed at Luftgekühlt IV and R Gruppe Treffen, we had a blast telling it’s story! Continue reading “”
PALOUSE MAGIC
A big thank you to everyone at PCA’s Panorama Magazine for their amazing support. This Back Story photo and text was assigned by Richard Baron and made possible with the generosity of Ron Roland (1952 Porsche America Roadster owner) and Sarah Scott (older barn and younger owner). Continue reading “”
THE STORY BEHIND THE SHOT
Here’s one that almost didn’t happen.
This shot was made on a beautiful February afternoon in California. It ended up as the lead photo in a feature on Rich Sutliffe’s 1973 911S race car. Continue reading “”
HAPPY HALLOWEEN AND VINCENT VAN GOUGH
Here’s a Celtic harvest delight – a Gulf Orange 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4 that magically turns from a pumpkin into a carriage of immense delight.
I shot this one at sunrise among the wheat fields of the Palouse. Trick-or-treat? You decide. Continue reading “”
SPEEDSTER WARS
Check out my latest article for Road Scholars Magazine about an era when over 30 Porsche Speedsters would show up for a single event in California. With cameo appearances by James Dean and Steve McQueen, and Randy Leffingwell’s story of the America Roadster, the October 2017 issue is packed with lots of retro reading fun! Continue reading “”

MEXICAN 1000 FILM AND ARTICLE PREMIERE
The Porsche Club of America just launched my six-minute video about a pair of Rothsport Porsche 964s racing in the 2017 Baja Mexican 1000 Safari Rally.
After five days of blasting over 1,000 miles of rough terrain, the team beat all the odds by not only finishing but winning a trophy, a feat no Porsche has ever accomplished in Mexico. Until now. Continue reading “”
THE STORY BEHIND THE SHOT
Summer’s here and it’s time for a blistering image that has an interesting back story.
Bonneville Salt Flats is ground zero for land speed records. It’s also a cooker in the summer. The white surface acts like a huge reflector that throws light everywhere. This portrait is one example.
I had set up a flash to camera right and was ready to set my exposure. I fired a test shot, but it was way overexposed at 1/13 of a second. Continue reading “”
LONG MAY YOU RUN
Congrats to Michael Hammond and Don Ahearn for appearing in the current issue of Panorama Magazine with their 1967 911S. It’s one of the longest continually raced 911s in the world! What a blast it was to photograph and write about this iconic vintage race car. Continue reading “”
EMORY CAMPOUT FILM
The camp out this past weekend at Gary and Rod Emory’s farm in Oregon was sensational. Rennfilms and I both showed movies. Mine is a short video that is being prepared to debut with a feature article in the August issue of Porsche Panorama Magazine: 1000 Ways To Fail. Stay tuned for more. Continue reading “”
