Zwart has been a hero of mine since I bought the November ’87 issue of American Photographer off the newsstand with his car photo on the cover. Even now, his images in that magazine are amazing. Continue reading “”

911 AND TOAD HALL
In the fall of 1971, 25 year-old Michael Keyser of Toad Hall Motor Racing ordered a 2.5-liter Light Yellow 911 “ST†sport purposes Porsche from the factory. In December, Keyser traveled from the USA to the Sports Department in Stuttgart where he met with Jürgen Barth, who was the same age and from a well-known racing family. Continue reading “”
CARRERA 2.7 BOOK AVAILABLE NEXT MONTH
“Serious automotive enthusiasts consider Porsche’s 1973 Carrera 2.7 RS to be the archetypical 911. The cars are light, responsive, purposeful and the type 911/83 mechanically fuel injected engine delivers scintillating performance. Over the last 40 years the 2.7 RS has been covered in dozens of books and articles. Yet its successor – a car with the identical engine and similar DNA – remains either unknown or misunderstood even by long-time Porsche enthusiasts.”
ROGER GRAGO FILM TO DEBUT NEXT MONTH
My film editor, Nick Roveda, and I are putting the final touches on a 26 minute documentary. It’s a tribute to our dear friend Roger Grago who gave so much to the California hot rod car clubs of DKP and R Gruppe. Roger passed away from brain cancer in December. This short film that I directed and shot will debut during Rennsport Reunion next month in Monterey. I’ll post again once this video is available online.
BEVEES
The current issue of Porsche Club of America’s Panorama Magazine, August 2015, includes my photo coverage of “Bevees” – Bev Gould’s 1970 911 E Porsche Targa. Ada Lee Halofsky wrote the wonderful text. Continue reading “”
RENNSPORT REUNION V
Days of vintage racing, concours on the ave and on the grass, gatherings at the Baja Cantina, and auctions in town. As the annual Monterey Motorsports Reunion wraps up this weekend in CA, it’s time to start looking forward to the next classic car event focused on Porsche at the same locale next month. Continue reading “”
TIME MACHINE
It was a pleasure getting to know Bob Heintz and his 1955 Pre-A Porsche 356. Bob restored this rare “Continental” model to perfection in its original Jade Green Metallic paint. It’s a gem that has gone on to win numerous concours. Continue reading “”
PORSCHE TO FOCUS MORE ON WEIGHT?
An end to the horsepowers wars? Sounds good to me. The latest supercars are so powerful (and heavy) that when a novice driver exceeds the limits of adhesion bad things happen… fast. Hopefully the next GT3 will incorporate answers to these questions. Continue reading “”
WHEELS OF FORTUNE
Road Scholars Magazine just published an article I put together with the help of several Porsche vintage wheel experts.
Included is an overview of rare early Porsche road rims: the first 356 wheels, Spyder lightwieghts, Rudge Knock-offs, Carrera GT wheels, 1967 911S 4.5s, 911 R rims, Mahle Magnesium wheels, and 911 and RSR versions. Continue reading “”
EV WINS PIKES PEAK HILLCLIMB
Rhys Millen won Pikes Peak overall today driving an all-electric powered vehicle – a first in the history of the event. With a time just a few ticks over 9 minutes, Sebastian Loeb’s seemingly miraclulous 2013 record run of 8:13.878 in a World Rally car is still safe for now. Continue reading “”
PORSCHE RACING WEEKEND
Today is the final day of autocross competition at the 60th annual Porsche Parade in French Lick, Indiana. Good luck to all my PCA friends! Continue reading “”
PORSCHE WINS LE MANS
Today, Porsche claimed its 17th overall Le Mans victory. The team’s 919 Hybrid #19 won the world’s greatest endurance race with Nico Hulkenberg, Nick Tandy, and Earl Bamber driving.
Porsche Team’s 919 #17, which was on pole with Mark Weber, finished second. Audi had to settle for 3rd after dominating this French event for years. Continue reading “”

A new Porsche shop is about to open on San Juan Island, WA. The man of the shop? Kevin Watts. A Scot who’s one of the sharpest guys I know. Continue reading “”
THE ALMOST PERFECT 1954 SPEEDSTER
It’s no secret. I’ve always wanted a 1954 Porsche Speedster. It’s the first year of an iconic shape that’s become a classic in automotive history. At least I’ve had the opportunity to photograph and drive one. Continue reading “”
912 # 13415
PCA’s Panorama Magazine has done it again. They continue to set the bar for quality automotive photojournalism when it comes to Porsche. Continue reading “”
NEW LEAF ’72T
Thanks to editor Randy Leffingwell and Road Scholars Magazine for showcasing my article on this lightly modified 50K mile 1972 Porsche 911T. It was originally built to special order with Leaf Green paint, tan interior, 5-speed transmission, forged alloy Fuchs, ‘S’ appearance group, tinted glass, and sunroof. Continue reading “”
