“FIRST PORSCHE” FAILS TO SELL
Technically speaking, the Type 64 isn’t really a Porsche… because the company didn’t exist when Ferdinand Porsche first built the car in 1938. Continue reading “”

THANK YOU – LEICA STORE OF BELLEVUE
It’s always nice when someone decides to place a print of yours in a commercial space. When that space is the Leica Store, in the prestigious Bellevue Square of Washington state, it’s doubly nice. Thank you Brandon, Nathan, Ilya, Steven, Ebi, Ray, Yvette and everyone at Leica for your support. Continue reading “”
EXODUS
Several artist friends of mine are moving to the region of San Miguel de Allende in Mexico. They report feeling very comfortable in their new surroundings. The wealthy ones are now living on the north island of New Zealand – even better. Continue reading “”
GRIEF
Time magazine’s current cover lists 253 U.S. cities that experienced a mass shooting this year. Continue reading “”
TRUTH
It’s kind of hard to find today, but back in 1968 truth was (more) readily available.
That’s the year Jeff Beck laid waste to what had come before with his blues-rock album Truth. His band was an evolution of the Yardbirds and a foreshadowing of Faces. With Ron Wood on bass, vocals by Rod Stewart, and Beck’s electrifying guitar, this is the seminal electric blues, modified R&B, and psychedelically influenced rock and heavy-metal album. LAUNCHING AND LANDING
When writing a feature, it’s the beginning and ending that are most important to me. I can spend days on just those four paragraphs – editing away anything that I can in Hemingway style. The best editors honor this. Thank you. You know who you are. Continue reading “”
PINK MOON
OK, it’s the end of July, and I’ve somehow missed every one of this album’s significant anniversaries.
Still, this is probably the best article I’ve ever written about any subject, so here goes. Continue reading “”
PCA PARADE
Porsche Club of America sent me to Miami this week to photograph and write about the annual Porsche Parade. For sure, I’ll be taking my bag of tricks along to capture every unusual angle on location. Continue reading “”
000 MAGAZINE
Look for my Porsche 911 ST cover photograph and 45-page story in the current edition of 000 Magazine.
This is the first published deep coverage of the 1970-1972 911 ST. Continue reading “”
VINTAGE PORSCHE MARKET STILL HEALTHY
A 1972 911S I photographed for auction just sold for $279,000. Granted, it’s one of the best in the world. It’s basically a brand new car restored to perfection with Apollo history. Congrats to Scott and his family. Continue reading “”

Go, USA!
Megan Rapinoe and the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team may not be to everyone’s taste, but they are a force to be reckoned with. Continue reading “”
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY
Here’s to all those who have given of themselves to make the USA a better place where we can experience our hard won freedoms. Continue reading “”
NO GURU, NO METHOD, NO TEACHER
My favorite Van Morrison album was released 33 years ago. Recorded in part at The Record Plant in Sausalito, CA, it’s a magnificent record with David Hayes laying out on bass on “Foreign Window”. The lyrics can come off as obscure to most, but they’re transcendent to me. Check it out. Continue reading “”
WHAT TO DO WHEN IT’S TOO HOT OUTSIDE
One of my specialties is automotive studio photography. When the sun’s blazing, the summer light can be too harsh to shoot in all day. That’s when I’ll pop into the studio, where I have complete control over the lighting. Continue reading “”
LOCATION PHOTOGRAPHY
Recently, I had the opportunity to shoot again for an auction company – in Spokane. The subject was a rare custom Datsun 240Z. As usual, my job was to find a great location on the spot within minutes. Continue reading “”
FORD V. FERRARI – OFFICIAL TRAILER
A movie based on the legendary Ford GT40 race car, which beat Ferrari at its own game, will premiere in November. Matt Damon stars as Caroll Shelby, the man who designed the GT40, and Christian Bale plays the role of Ken Miles, the British driver in the GT40 MkII that won Le Mans in 1966. Continue reading “”
