TO BE PAID FOR WHAT YOU LOVE
Isn’t that the dream? Sounds great. Sign me up…
Being renumerated for something you would do anyway Some say it’s “found moneyâ€. Unfortunately, the compensation offered doesn’t always reflect the cost of doing business in today’s world.
Early on, being an artist will probably feel like a tough road filled with obstacles and rejection. And, until you develop a style and product that’s needed, it’s likely to stay that way. Once you achieve success, be thankful for what you have. You are being paid for what you love… Continue reading “”
VOLKSWAGEN WOES
No, I’m not talking about the shocking diesel recall. That’s world’s away from my news.
My 2001 VW Eurovan Weekender’s second transmission failed. I guess after 200,000 miles of traveling cross country that will happen. Rather than fix it again, I decided to upgrade to a 2006 Porsche Cayenne. Same VR6 type motor with a lot more amenities. Continue reading “”

ROGER GRAGO VIDEO NOW ONLINE
ROGER’S RIDE
One of the things you can’t take with you when you pass on is your story. Roger Grago left us with so many great stories, because he made a difference in other people’s lives. This film, “Roger’s Ride”, attempts to provide some of the ways in how he touched so many. The members of DKP and R Gruppe know what I’m talking about. Continue reading “”

Thanks to everyone for your amazing support over the past two weeks. It’s been an incredible trip.
Also, congrats to Tom Woodford and his streamliner Porsche 911 just published in a story I covered on the disappearing salt flats at Bonneville Speedway. Continue reading “”
RENNSPORT WEEKEND UPDATE
Finally up for air after a mind-blowing weekend in Monterey, CA. Thanks to my editors Pete Stout and Randy Leffingwell for their guidance on the amazing stories I was assigned. It was especially wonderful meeting the staff of PCA Panorama Magazine at the top of “The Corkscrew” Sunday afternoon. Continue reading “”

JEFF ZWART INTERVIEW IN EXCELLENCE
Zwart has been a hero of mine since I bought the November ’87 issue of American Photographer off the newsstand with his car photo on the cover. Even now, his images in that magazine are amazing. Continue reading “”
911 AND TOAD HALL
In the fall of 1971, 25 year-old Michael Keyser of Toad Hall Motor Racing ordered a 2.5-liter Light Yellow 911 “ST†sport purposes Porsche from the factory. In December, Keyser traveled from the USA to the Sports Department in Stuttgart where he met with Jürgen Barth, who was the same age and from a well-known racing family. Continue reading “”
THINGS HAVE NEVER BEEN BETTER

CARRERA 2.7 BOOK AVAILABLE NEXT MONTH
“Serious automotive enthusiasts consider Porsche’s 1973 Carrera 2.7 RS to be the archetypical 911. The cars are light, responsive, purposeful and the type 911/83 mechanically fuel injected engine delivers scintillating performance. Over the last 40 years the 2.7 RS has been covered in dozens of books and articles. Yet its successor – a car with the identical engine and similar DNA – remains either unknown or misunderstood even by long-time Porsche enthusiasts.”
ROGER GRAGO FILM TO DEBUT NEXT MONTH
My film editor, Nick Roveda, and I are putting the final touches on a 26 minute documentary. It’s a tribute to our dear friend Roger Grago who gave so much to the California hot rod car clubs of DKP and R Gruppe. Roger passed away from brain cancer in December. This short film that I directed and shot will debut during Rennsport Reunion next month in Monterey. I’ll post again once this video is available online.
BORN TO RUN TURNS 40
The cover of Bruce Springsteen’s 1975 album Born to Run is one of rock music’s most iconic images. It was made by Eric Meola, who reportedly shot 900 frames with his Nikon during a three-hour photo session. Meola’s image shows Springsteen holding a Fender Telecaster and leaning against the late saxophonist Clarence Clemons.

Days of vintage racing, concours on the ave and on the grass, gatherings at the Baja Cantina, and auctions in town. As the annual Monterey Motorsports Reunion wraps up this weekend in CA, it’s time to start looking forward to the next classic car event focused on Porsche at the same locale next month.
