HOW TO TELL IF SOMEONE IS SELF ABSORBED
A common condition in today’s busy world, here’s a test:
LOST ORIENTATION
“Some social philosophers (Bauman, Sloterdijk) focus attention to the fact that in modern society the continuous state of change has its toll. The fickle character of this age implies that individuals lose their sense of orientation. While improvising his way through the manifold changes modern man loses every sense of direction.” Continue reading “”
A blog is a diary.
I made this art and used it on posters in 1971.
It undoubtedly helped me become Student Council President in my senior year of high school. Nike subsequently incorporated a similar “Just Do It.” logo in their ad campaigns from 1988 on, for different reasons. Continue reading “”
BACK TO BASICS
“Knowing what you’ve got, knowing what you need, knowing what you can do without – That’s inventory control.†– From the movie Revolutionary Road.
JFK REMEMBERED
This week marks the 50th anniversary of U.S. President John F. Kennedy’s assasination on Novemebr 22, 1963. It was undoubtedly the darkest day for our nation and its National Security. Imagine what would have happened if had he not been killed. It’s of any consequence, there’s only 25 years left until the public is able to view the CIA’s documents from that event. OK, I’m back to my normal light-hearted self. Whoever said being an artist is not always easy was right.

LUCKY TO BE ALIVE
Yesterday it was raining hard (yes, I live near Seattle). My wife and I were traveling to the city to see our accountant. While driving at 60+ mph on a rural highway in a VW Jetta, a deer came out of nowhere and was suddenly looking at me a few inches away from my driver’s side window. He was trying to avoid me with his head jerked back. I responded by swerving the car. Together we narrowly averted catastrophe. Continue reading “”
HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!
Here’s wishing you safe travels and the freedom to do what you want today.
Some American quotes:
“The United States are essentially the greatest poem.” – Walt Whitman
“Each generation of Americans has to face circumstances not of its own choosing, by which its character is measured and its spirit tested.” – Jimmy Carter
“The great social adventure of America is no longer the conquest of the wilderness but the absorption of fifty different peoples.” – Walter Lippmann Continue reading “”
HELLO AND WELCOME TO MY BLOG
I’m starting the New Year in 2010 with this commentary site, which reflects my personal areas of interest and how I view the temporal quality of life. My goal is to post something at least once a week on one of my four major passions: Photography/Video, Classic Porsches, Travel, and Music.
Hopefully I’ll provide a useful perspective on how each of these pursuits can be experienced with more than one unique sensory experience. I plan to review on average one photo tip, one sports car article/video, one journey, and one music album every month.

Happy New Year!
It’s been a hell of a journey. “Ob La Di, Ob Li Da”.
As Joseph Campbell said, “”I don’t think the meaning of life is what we’re seeking. I think it’s an experience of being alive, so that our life experiences on the purely physical plane will have resonances within our own innermost being and reality, so that we actually feel the rapture of being alive.” The message is to enjoy life fully in the moment.
