SAFARI 911 BUILDS
After completing features on Rothsport Racing’s Safari 911s in print and film, and seeing what they could do, I was convinced. This is the ultimate answer to an off-road Porsche. And it is. If you want to actually finish the Baja 500 or Mexican 1000. Continue reading “”
1973 CARRERA RS 2.7 LIGHTWEIGHT VS. TOURING
Most comparisons of this type gloss over the differing details that separate these two versions of what many believe is one of the best Porsche 911s ever built. My feature in the current issue of PCA’s Panorama Magazine avoids taking the easy road by looking in-depth at the iconic 1973 Carrera RS 2.7 touring and lightweight, including build variations and driving impressions. ALEX WEBB
When I mention the name of this pre-eminant street photographer today, I am often met with blank stares. In our disparate world, that reaction really shouldn’t surprise me. Yet, a part of me says, “How can that be?” Continue reading “”
THANKS PANO!
The annual Porsche Club of America’s national gathering took place in Florica this year. Once again I was assigned to photograph and write about the attending car owners and their Porsches. Despite extreme humidity and heat, I got the shots. Look for them in this month’s issue of Panorama Magazine! Continue reading “”

ROBERT FRANK R.I.P.
Robert Frank, one of the most influential photographers of the 20th century has died at the age of 94.
His photographic book The Americans is considered a landmark document of the USA in the 20th century. Originally printed in Paris in 1958, it is now revered for its expressively ambiguous photographs, which still provoke differing interpretations. Continue reading “”
VACATION TIME!
After working pretty much every day for the past eight months, I’m going to take an extended vacation.
I’m going to soak in mineral hot springs while gazing at the stars, get a well-deserved massage (or two), walk on a deserted beach, learn street photography from a true master, and photograph some festivals.
I’ll also do a podcast. Continue reading “”

LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO
This has to be one of the lamest song titles in all of pop culture. Completely anti-Gene Smith philosophy. The reality is, unless you are being forced with bodily harm, nobody makes you do anything. Continue reading “”
JOHNNY DEPP IS W. EUGENE SMITH IN MINIMATA
Filming has begun in Japan to portray one of the most inspiring photo essayists ever. W. Eugene Smith’s images in Life magazine are legendary for their powerful emotion and use of low key light. His 1948 series, “Country Doctor”, is now recognized as “the first extended editorial photo story”. Continue reading “”
“FIRST PORSCHE” FAILS TO SELL
Technically speaking, the Type 64 isn’t really a Porsche… because the company didn’t exist when Ferdinand Porsche first built the car in 1938. Continue reading “”
THANK YOU – LEICA STORE OF BELLEVUE
It’s always nice when someone decides to place a print of yours in a commercial space. When that space is the Leica Store, in the prestigious Bellevue Square of Washington state, it’s doubly nice. Thank you Brandon, Nathan, Ilya, Steven, Ebi, Ray, Yvette and everyone at Leica for your support. Continue reading “”
