From Uncrate: “In airplanes, the black box records and stores flight data to provide information in the event of a crash. With climate change putting our planet in a downward spiral, earth is getting one of its own. The 33-foot-long steel vault is being constructed on the coast of Tasmania and is designed to record and collect measurements and interactions as our planet continues to decline. Continue reading “”

BE CAREFUL KNOWING YOUR HEROES TOO WELL –
A.K.A. WHILE MY GUITAR GENTLY WEEPS
Mentors are important. Heroes can be as well.
When you first meet your hero, you will be less than objective. Every thing you hear from that person will be colored by your preconceptions. Until it’s not. Continue reading “”
YOU WILL NEVER KNOW WHO I AM
The life of a true artist is unique and unlikely to be knowable in its entirety to many, if any at all. Continue reading “”
RAW AND HONEST
There’s always more stuff to acquire. So, how much is enough?
Very few people ask this question of themselves.

SAMURAI OPTOMETRIST
Saturday Night Live with John Belushi as the “Samurai Optometrist” aired in November, 1978. I remember that night very well because a dozen of us optometry students were watching it live in a small apartment in Chicago while attending the Illinois College of Optometry. I don’t think anyone who was there has forgotten it.
BELIEVE IN YOURSELF
For the artist, photographer, writer, or anyone else doing a job that looks like a lot of fun… Competition and rejection are part and parcel of what you will experience, especially early on. Believing in yourself is critical at this juncture. Continue reading “”
IT WAS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME – FLYING CARS
“The 1960s animated cartoon series – The Jetsons – is best remembered for its depiction of a future that just never seemed to get any closer (apart from video phones). And nothing about this future is more lamented than the prolonged absence of George Jetson’s flying electric car. The bad news: There are still no flying electric cars. The good news: Florida is building a place to park them.” Continue reading “”
