IT’S ONLY A MATTER OF GOING

“Actions speak louder than words.”

I’ve always believed in that. Yet, in today’s world, more and more, made up images and words are often believed over actions that are actually true.

I’m what you would call a veteran travel photographer. I know what’s out there, and I know what it can really look like, on tens of thousands of occasions, in the best of conditions, all over the world.

It has been my good fortune to have captured these fleeting moments, on film and on digital cameras, without manipulation for decades.

Most of what I see on Instagram today is not even close to what can possiblly happen. These photo-illustration are today’s most popular supposed photographs.

What’s today’s motto? Go once, and make the rest up. Sorry to disillusion you, but most of the stuff you see and read today is made up. It’s an “orgy of narcissism,” as my fellow veteran travel photographer Bill Krist has said. It doesn’t actually exist.

Try again.
