GT2 RS

I’ve never posted twice in the same day, but since I’m on a Porsche roll… Why not.

Here’s a video from Porsche explaining the genesis of the new GT2 RS, the most powerful and exclusive 911 Turbo street car ever.

While the Cayman R and 918 may be in the current spotlight, (and the executive town car Panamera is outselling the sports car 911) this is the car I would own. Of course, it’s sold out. No RMS hassle either. It would look great sitting next to my ’72 911S and 911T/ST.

Power from the twin turbo 3.6L flat six is 612 hp with 516 lb·ft of torque. Top speed is 205 mph. 0-60 mph happens in 3.3 seconds. With Walter Rohrl driving, the GT2 RS recently clocked a record-breaking time of 7 minutes and 18 seconds around the Nürburgring-Nordschleife track. Unlike the SUV Cayenne, I wouldn’t mind having to replace the brakes yearly on this one.

Also… Here’s current F1 champion Sebastian Vettel in an early RHD Porsche 911 (a silver ’71 911E) from today’s Australian Grand Prix. Cool…
