Its almost spring, and some of the best driving roads in the U.S. are between Washington state and California – just not I-5. Continue reading “”
WHAT IS IT THAT INSPIRES YOU?
Anyone who’s an artist at their craft knows this is the eternal question that compels a soul to keep pushing the envelope. The secret is to make sure you are rewarded for working harder, so you can fulfill your destiny – even if it takes awhile. Continue reading “”
AN UNLIKELY VALENTINE
Magnus means “great” in Latin. Like him or not, it’s been hard to ignore Magnus Walker, whose media attention has shone a light on air-cooled Porsches. And that’s contributed to their rise in value over the past five years – for good or for bad. Continue reading “”
THE CAR THAT INSPIRED A BOOK
Thanks to editor Randy Leffingwell and Road Scholars Magazine for showcasing my article on Ryan Snodgrass and his 1976 Porsche 2.7 Carrera.
This is the car that inspired Ryan’s recently published 400 page “bible” on the ’74-76 Euro Carrera 2.7 MFI model. Continue reading “”

MORE PATINA
More people are loving patinated Porsches. It’s rumored that Jerry Seinfeld is acquiring them, and the rest will follow. Always loved photographing and writing about them myself! Continue reading “”
LEICA SL
I’ve now shot with the new SL, and it’s very nice: Leica quality, metal body, full-frame 24 MP sensor, 12 fps, 4K video, high-res EVF, weather sealed, and rugged. Of course, I’m a dyed in the wool Leica fan, so I find it all very tempting. Except for the fact the SL was launched as a professional camera three months ago and still only has one AF-IS lens available, a 24-90mm f2.8-4. That and it’s very expensive… $12.5K for the body/lens package. Continue reading “”

ROAD TRIP!
There’s nothing better for clearing away winter cobwebs than taking a road trip in a 2004 Porsche 911 GT3 from L.A. to Seattle with a friend.
BEING THERE
“Last spring, on the final day of a 15-day trip spent chasing storms with his brother and meteorologist friends in Colorado, James Smart of Melbourne, Australia, snapped the photo that won the newly announced grand prize in the 2015 National Geographic Photo Contest.” – from Gear Patrol. WHERE TO GO(A) IN 2016?
Never been to India… although I’ve always wanted to. There’s a former Portuguese province on the idyllic west coast of the country whose motto is “Truth Alone Triumphs”. It’s a popular destination for its laid back beaches, places of worship, biodeversity and world heritage architecture. It also has perfect weather in January/February. Continue reading “”
A GUIDE TO AUTOCROSS IN PCA MAGAZINE
To write and photograph about a subject as dear to my heart as autocross is an honor. Thanks to Pete Stout for allowing me to see this one through to completion. Thanks also to Richard Baron for his amazing design, which never ceases to amaze me. More thanks to the national autocross champions who participated. And finally, thanks to Jeff Barstow, who has been my driving partner for over 15 years. Continue reading “”
