WOW

When I respond, “Wow”, it is for one of two reasons. It either means, “I’m really impressed”, or it means, “I am utterly at a loss for words”.

When I say, “that’s hilarious”, it only means one thing: “Are you kidding?”

Most of the time I don’t talk and just listen.

Most importantly, I never call myself a “master photographer”.

7 Tips For Starting out as a “Professional” Photographer

VINYL IS HOT

In the last five years new vinyl LP sales in the USA have doubled to over 30 million units sold per year. That’s more than new CD sales today, and these numbers don’t include used record purchases.

Prior to 2016, the sales numbers for new vinyl was increasing but not anywhere this rate. Only problem is, most everything currently released on LP is on backorder. This is primarily due to increased demand and decreased supply (due in no small part to the small number of pressing plants and the lack of vinyl pellets). See this for more:

WELCOME TO THE BOOMTOWN

Seattle is and has always been different. That doesn’t mean it’s bad. It’s an assemledge of people from across the nation looking for learning, recreation and progressiveness, yet it remains reasonable (except for the more recent cost of living increases, homelessness, rioting and traffic problems). THANK YOU AGAIN PORSCHE 356 REGISTRY MAGAZINE

Thanks to editor Peter Bodensteiner and the team for including my work in their 356 magazine this month. My inside feature with words and pictures profiles Steve Terrien’s 1961 356 Sunroof Carrera GS tells the story of his ownership of the car for almost 40 years. Check it out.

THIS IS WHAT THE WORLD FEELS LIKE SOMETIMES

I made this photograph of endless waves in stormy weather in the late ’90s at Newport Beach, Rhode Island. It’s always struck a nerve with me.

CHARLIE WATTS R.I.P.

The only drummer in The Rolling Stones since its inception passed away today at age 80. He was the core of the band. Married to the same woman since 1964, with as steady a beat as was possible, and always a purveyor of fashion, Charlie was as cool as they came. Everyone loved him (bottom right in photo). Only two, Mick and Keith, remain from the original line-up. Kind of like The Who and The Beatles…

This is a real loss, never replicated. Charlie will forever be deeply missed. Continue reading “”

BACK FROM MONTEREY CAR WEEK

What a phenomenal show. There were so many highlights to recount. Certainly, one was the thirteen Porsche 917s brought together for a once-in-a-lifetime photo shoot on Saturday at Pebble Beach in Carmel, California. Wow.

Thanks to writer Jay Gillotti, who invited me to make the photos for the Porsche Club of America’s Panorama Magazine feature. It was great to reconnect (and connect) with many new and old clients and friends over the weekend.

THE ROAD TRAVELED

Congrats to Luke Veselic on his feature in the latest issue of Porsche Panorama Magazine. We traveled to the furthest back roads of the Santa Monica mountains north of Los Angeles to write about and photograph the 1982 911 SC Targa that Luke inherited from his father and a 2019 911 Carrera T that Luke recently purchased.

The light that evening was magical and made for some great photos and memories.

WHO’S NEXT – 50 YEARS LATER

Today marks the 50th anniversary of The Who’s best album. I would say arguably, but the only other contenders are Tommy and Quadrophenia, and while these are classics as well, none has this record’s cache.

“Won’t Get Fooled Again” from the album Who’s Next becomes increasingly relevant with each passing year. Continue reading “”
