THANKS PANO!

It’s a sincere honor to be awarded a cover feature in Porsche Club of America’s national magazine, Panorama.

In the December 2020 issue of Panorama Magazine, there’s a 16-page story of mine that goes behind the scenes for a photoshoot of the Emory Motorsport’s AWD “AllRad” 356 Outlaw.

In this article, I explain what goes into all my professional photo sessions. Photo tips are listed, some secrets are revealed, and a lot of fun ensues when Rod Emory coasts down a pre-planned route without a working engine!

Thanks to Rob Sass, Amy Skogstrom, Richard Baron, Vu Nguyen, Allen Lane, Doug Lloyd, and Emma Smith at the PCA!

IT WAS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME – FLYING CARS

“The 1960s animated cartoon series – The Jetsons – is best remembered for its depiction of a future that just never seemed to get any closer (apart from video phones). And nothing about this future is more lamented than the prolonged absence of George Jetson’s flying electric car. The bad news: There are still no flying electric cars. The good news: Florida is building a place to park them.” Continue reading “”

FROM 50 MM TO 28 MM

It’s interesting when you think about it. In the 1950s and before that, people saw the world with what artists called a “normal” perspective. It resembled a 50 mm focal length composition on a full-frame 35 mm format camera.

You see that perspective when you travel to European cities. The streets and buildings are narrow and complement that field of view. Continue reading “”

CANDYCE’S 1973 PORSCHE 911S

A big thank you to everyone at PCA’s Panorama Magazine for publishing my story about a woman who carried on her husband’s legacy.

This month’s issue features my images and words about a 1973 911S in Sepia Brown that has won countless concours since Candyce Jones inherited it from her late husband. The image above was photographed with Candyce at the wheel while attending PCA Parade in Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. This is a great story for many reasons. Continue reading “”

IT’S ONLY A MATTER OF GOING

From this day forward, all images on this site will be 550 pixels or wider, so you can better see the differences in quality.

“Actions speak louder than words.”

I’ve always believed in that. Yet, in today’s world, more and more, made up images and words are often believed over actions that are actually true. Continue reading “”

LOST IN TRANSLATION

“Lost in Translation is a 2003 American romantic comedy-drama film (that won an Oscar) written and directed by Sofia Coppola. Bill Murray stars as Bob Harris, a fading American movie star who is having a midlife crisis when he travels to Tokyo to promote Suntory whisky. There, he befriends another estranged American named Charlotte, a young woman and recent college graduate played by Scarlett Johansson.” -Wiki Continue reading “”

SO, WHAT’S A BARE BONES AUTOMOTIVE VIDEO RIG?

A simple car shoot video rig is ideally compact, lightweight, and easy to use. It’s also hopefully not too expensive. After all, it’s your vision and message that will determine the success of any film more than anything else.

Whatever rig you choose, you don’t really want to compromise much on quality – for the camera, the lens, monitor or the audio mic. Continue reading “”
